Taran adarsh, Anupama Copra and Rajeev Masand gives an explanation of the film plot/storyline where a 14 year old Shruti is found dead in room by their parents Neeraj and Konkana playing as Ramesh and Nutan Tandon. While investing, the (Khempal) servant dead body is discovered on terrace. Because of much buzz in the media, the case is later hand over to Central Department of Investigation. The case is handled by Irrfan Khan playing character of Officer Ashwin Kumar whose inquiry takes the case to another level. As he found the case to be cracked, the case is transferred to another officer where he reverberate theory of parents being guilty. The film is presented with all sorts of available investigation and leaves up to the audience to decide which one is most trustworthy.
