IPL 2016 Auction: Team Pune, Team Rajkot

IPL 2016 Auction Team Pune, Team Rajkot

Today i.e. 15th December, 2015 for the first time IPL Player’s draft was held in Mumbai at Mumbai Cricket Association’s Club House in BKC at 12.15 PM. The players from Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were part of this Auction. Total 50 players were auctioned from which each team had to select 5 players each as draft system. Team Pune has the 1st chance to pick the player as they bid lowest (10Cr) in team auction, while team Rajkot bid was 16Cr.

So the Rules were, players were divided into two groups capped and uncapped. The 1st player is worth12.5Cr while remaining four were worth of 9.5Cr, 7.5Cr, 5.5Cr and 4Cr. Each had to spend minimum 40Cr and maximum 66Cr throughout the auction. The twist to story is if a player is bought at 5Cr but salary will be given according to previous franchise.  For example if a player is bought at 5Cr and his salary with previous franchise was 7.5Cr then new franchise has to pay 7.5Cr. But will be counted as 5Cr for team that means only 5Cr will be deducted form team budget.

So as Auction started, as expected, Pune picked up Indian ODI and T20 captain M.S Dhoni for sum of 12.5Cr. Suresh Raina was picked by Team Rajkot for same price. Then Ajinkya Rahane was picked up by Pune for 9.5Cr and Jadeja was picked by Rajkot at same price. R Ashwin is picked by Pune and B Mccullum by Rajkot for 7.5Cr. S Smith to Pune and J Faulkner to Rajkot for 5.5Cr. Faf Du Plessis to Pune and D Bravo to Rajkot for 4Cr. The remaining 40+ players along with other players will be auctioned in February, 2016.
